[REMINDER] Update Your Debit Card Before May 1st

You may want to take a minute to look closely at your Chinese bank card. The magnetic strip function will no longer be used in Shanghai after May 1.

There are 3 kinds of bank cards in Shanghai:

MAGNETIC STRIP ONLY CARDS

These will NOT WORK after May 1, the swipe functions on all Chinese bank cards will be disabled.

CHIP ONLY CARDS

These are fine and will work after May 1.

CARDS WITH MAGNETIC STRIP AND CHIP

The chip in these cards will not work, so you need to get a new card.

If you need to change your bank card you should do it ASAP. Just bring your ID card (passport) and your original card.
